This summer, the Grandview School District decided to cancel their summer enrichment program (summer school), so the boys didn't have anywhere to go while I'm working summer school. Due to summer school enrollment numbers at Hickman, I was scheduled to teach only the last two weeks of the program. So, Mom and Dad graciously volunteered to take the boys for two weeks while I'm teaching.
The boys have been in Nebraska for a week, and they're returning home on Friday. In the meantime, I've noticed a few phenomenons going on in Kansas City.
1. The house is alarmingly quiet without the boys and the dog.
2. If I put something down, it's in the exact same spot when I return to it.
3. Cooking for one isn't as fun.
4. I can sleep an extra 30 minutes in the morning because I don't have to nag the boys about getting ready, and I don't have to make a stop at the daycare.
5. I find myself flipping to Cartoon Network, just to see what's on.
6. I haven't used the words "fighting", "arguing" and "quit" in the same sentence in over a week.
7. I can shop in less time at stores like Target and Walmart, and I can actually go into women's clothing stores without hearing little boy groans.
8. I don't have to watch the clock after school to see if it's time to pick the boys up from the bus.
9. Worlds of Fun hasn't seen the Carter Crew in over a week.
10. Cheerleading practice doesn't seem quite the same without the boys playing basketball in the corner/battling with Pokemon.
